We awoke in our dormitory at 6:30am to find we were the only travelers left in the room. These other pilgrims are early risers! We'll pass them on the trail later this morning. The hour was early for us but we were anxious to get out of Ages and on the way to the third of four big cities we will walk through, Burgos.
After a first breakfast in Atapuerca we summited a small "alto" and there it was, a city I had been awaiting for days. Burgos is a beautiful city with a wealth of historic art and architecture. Most exciting, there is an endodontist there.
Like other large cities we've approached, it took hours to get there. Ben was able to steer us out of the primary Camino walk through the sketchy industrial area and into a park along the Arlanzon river.
I dropped my pack at the hotel and set off for Clinica Colina to get under the drill. More x-rays revealed that I had hiked 8 days with three infected nerves in my tooth. I sure hope that counts towards my Compostela when I get to Santiago. I think I ingested more ibuprofen this past week than Kenny Easley did in the 80's. (Fist bump to Buen Camino subscriber Matt Rogers for recommending I also ingest omeprazole to protect myself.)
Burgos is stunning with its cathedral, castle, monastery, and Plaza Mayor. This is a city worth coming back to with more time. Tomorrow we start long days in The Meseta.
Buen Camino

Yo know it Pilgrim! Comes with every pilgrim’s menu. We enjoyed a jug last night with your countrymen from Stuttgart. I couldn’t post it last night as the whole of Hontanas had no WiFi. Look for the jug when I lost later. Good to hear from you on The Way brother!
Jarv - I hear the pilgrims used the local wines to help them along the Way. I hear it cures pretty much everything. Might want to give it a try...
The song sounds promising ! Don't this theme has ever been put to song. This may pay for the rest of Ben's education !
Glad that Mike and I were wrong and that you had a competent team of dentists.
Have noooooo coment on the Stanley Cup standings . .. . nooooo idea who should be where ! Guess I don't don't need to research that stuff. Thank you, thank you, thank you !
Maybe some smoked or fresh salmon coming to Pablo, Alda and Albert ?
Thanks Bonnie. Pablo, Alda, and Albert really knew their stuff at the Clinic and Albert ensured I felt no pain during the procedure (but I sure woke up with some, I think that’s to be expected). They can expect a Pacific Northwest themed gift arriving soon.
“Jesus Was A Trucker” is song first person by a wayward traveler who hitches a ride and all he learns on the Way. We’ll keep working on it.
We’re keeping track of the scores, Jets / Knights, who would’ve guessed that one!
PS: Are you able to follow the Stanley Cup? I'd give you an update .. . . . . but, I'm not following it ! (Surprised?) If you can't get updates .. . .. and want to know, I'll try to research it and let you know. But, I figure you already know more than I do .. . .
